Casa di Cura Pio XI
Benvenuti in clinica
dove la scienza medica incontra il cuore della cura.
A center of excellence for prevention, diagnosis, and treatment, serving Rome and the world for over half a century.
A center of excellence for prevention, diagnosis, and treatment, serving Rome and the world for over half a century.
Designed in the 1960s by the architect Julio Lafuente as a modern private healthcare facility, the Clinic was born from the desire of the Sisters of San Giuseppe of Gerona to create a structure dedicated to care and assistance, while maintaining the expertise in healthcare and the tradition of attention to the person.
The Casa di Cura Pio XI is an example of brutalist architecture, characterized by simple shapes, large volumes and the evident use of concrete. Its strong and distinctive appearance stems from the way the building alternates between surfaces, windows, light and shadow.
Its value is not only aesthetic: the architecture was designed to make a complex structure such as a hospital more functional and comfortable by organizing the spaces and reducing the paths between the different departments. Precisely for this reason, the Casa di Cura Pio XI has attracted the interest of critics and architectural magazines, even at the international level. It was indeed published in various works and magazines dedicated to 20th-century architecture, becoming a recognized example of Roman modern architecture.
His interest lies in transforming a normally very functional healthcare building into an architecture with a strong identity, where form, structure and function work together.
Today it is a multidisciplinary healthcare center that integrates care, medical specialization, and advanced diagnostic technologies to offer personalized treatment pathways.
The history of Casa di Cura Pio XI in Rome represents a path of transformation in which technological innovation, medical specialization, and the centrality of the person have progressively integrated one another.
Today it is a well-established presence in the Roman healthcare sector, contracted with Italian and foreign insurance companies.
